2004-09-15 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Oh, and the reason that I'm highly depressed... hm, wonder if I should say. Well, I DO need some advice, I suppose, or rather: want some. My kalikai broke up with me... on the idea that he loves me more like a sibling. I, of course, still love him like crazy romantically..
2004-09-15 [Kiristo]: awwww you poor thing. you'r not insane....
2004-09-15 [HiddenFire]: yeah, I had the same thing happen to me. Hurts like hell doesn't it? At the time I wished things could have ended badly so that I could hate her, blame her for all of it. But I still love her and I don't think I could ever feel any other way about her. I was angry with the situation, but I was never angry with her. What sucked the most was that I wanted to die (as I'm sure everyone goes through at such times) but I still had her on my list of people to live for and as far as I'm concerned she's still on it. The list is acutally comprised of only 3 people, people who I know whould be genuinely torn up about my death.
2004-09-15 [HiddenFire]: One of the people on the list is actually going through some rough times so we made a promise to each other to live for the other. Basically it's an aknowlegement of both of our depressions and suicidal thoughts as well as our friendship and hope that the other gets through it. I may not care much about myself but I wouldn't want them to commit suicide and they don't want me to either. I thought it was a good idea, and we're both still alive so it obviously has something to it. ~_^
2004-09-15 [-ollywood-]: im bored if ne1 wants my addy its oliverhurved@m
2004-09-15 [CelticMoon]: its actually quite scary how many people are depressed and suicdal in here .... it ... worrys me a bit
2004-09-15 [HiddenFire]: I don't think that there actually is a greater number of people who are depressed and/or suicidal, I think we're just getting to the point to where we can talk about it. Many kids bring it up for one reason, and it's the same reason they want to commit suicide, to be heard. To get attention. Then of course there is the fact that we are hopeless romantics. We are people who genuinely feel and care. So we are more deeply effected by the evils of this world. More apt to become so horrifically disgusted with the way things work, the amount of hatred, the curruption and evil that is present in society that we would wish to end it all.
2004-09-15 [HiddenFire]: It's hard to see the point of life when there is so much hardship, evil, curruption, hatred, etc. in the world. I find it a pitty that so many people who commit suicide are those that are genuinely caring people. It's sad that today's society does not encourage us to be so strong as those that break the rules and take advantage of others. That's why I find reasons to live. That's why I set myself goals and go after them fervently. Because if my life had no direction, if I didn't have people and reasons to live for, I would be dead. There is no question in my mind about that in the least. I would be dead.
2004-09-15 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Yeah, I know what you mean... I have at least three to live for... my brothers and my love. He told me that he really really didn't want me to die after he broke up... I still live.
2004-09-15 [HiddenFire]: I have my mother, my ex, and a friend over the net. Everyone else would get over it, they would be permanantly scared, I could never cause them so much pain with such a selfish gesture.
2004-09-15 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Yes.... well, my love is Christian, you know how THAT is. No suicide, or you go to the underworld. So he's really really frightened for me.. my brothers would be EXTREMELY sad, though I think both would live afterward... and you are wrong about the reasons for suicide, at least for me. I don't want attention, I want the opposite - for everyone to forget about me. if that happened, then no one would be hurt... impossible, though, or as close to it as anything can be.
2004-09-15 [HiddenFire]: Most kids are just just whiney and want attention. All the people that i know who have attempted suicide or even suggested that they'll kill themselves are doing it to make a point. For instance a kid who constantly seems on the brink of suicide is doing so so that people will take pitty on him, afraid that if they are too mean to him that they will be the cause of his death. Or the kid want's to show people "you have wronged me greatly and now my death is on your head." it's all rather sick if you ask me. My reason for suicidal thoughts is that I just want it all to go away. I don't want to deal with it anymore. It won't matter to me why people think I did it once I'm dead. *shrugs*
2004-09-15 [HiddenFire]: WOW! what a morbid and depressing subject we've gotten ourselves into. @.@
2004-09-15 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Yeah, I know, it's just stupid.... people should be wiser and value their lives more. I DO value mine, for all it's worth... which is very very little. Ah well, what can you do save live for those you care about...
2004-09-15 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Depression the cause, and depression the effect... fitting, I think, in a MORBIDLY DEPRESSING way. lol
2004-09-15 [HiddenFire]: Indeed. I value my intelligence. That is what I want to spread. I want to perpetuate my genes, have really smart kids. And then change the world by brainwashing millions of children with computer/video
2004-09-15 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Yeah, but what a weird direction, that last!! I want kids too, but I VERY much doubt I'll have any.
2004-09-15 [chaika]: Since you are talking about kids...lol...I might as well say: I watched: 'The Beauty and the Beast' in Spanish. lol. I never noticed how scary and...not for kids it is. Like...there is a lot of alcohol <--sp and those three girls in the bar...lol. Anyway...I never really noticed that before. It seems better in Spanish. lol.
2004-09-15 [Ylaraniala Majere]: o_O Is THAT off the subject or what... just punfect.... MUSN"T START AGAIN!
2004-09-15 [the Indigo]: spanish? what?
2004-09-15 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Beauty and the Beast in Spanish, apparently...
2004-09-15 [HiddenFire]: it's rather creepy if you ask me. And that candle stick got on my nerves. Spanish is hard enough to follow when it isn't being coated in a thick french accent. @.@
2004-09-16 [Ylaraniala Majere]: You saw it too?.... I've just seen the English version, that's bad enough..
2004-09-16 [Ylaraniala Majere]: ((*beats third picture into submission* AND STAY THAT WAY!!!!))
2004-09-16 [HiddenFire]: a bet of a dominatrix are we? @.@
2004-09-16 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Hehe... I'm cute... *innocent* ((*stabs second picture repeatedly... then fixes the damage because it's the one of her love*))
2004-09-16 [the Indigo]: i love watching disney movies!! the lion king was quite shocking, actually. you never notice how much adult humor is in these movies...
2004-09-16 [Morgan le Fay]: What?! We are talking about Disney and nobody told me?! I LOVE Disney movies!! Lion King is quite great, but I like Beauty and the Beast more... ^_^
2004-09-16 [3 Dreizig]: Way to change the subject, I suppose.
2004-09-16 [flaed]: I didn't like Sleeping Beauty. But I did like Cinderella!
2004-09-16 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Don't know WHAT I liked.... Pinoccio (sp), I believe, as well as a few others... not really into Disney...
2004-09-16 [flaed]: Yeah. I really liked "Ever After". That was a cute movie ^^
2004-09-16 [the Indigo]: whatever. the little mermaid beats them all
2004-09-16 [Ocean Dreaming]: I absolutely hate what Disney did to that story. I've always been rather partial to Beauty and the Beast though ;) Always loved that story, and it gives you much more freedom. My favourite fairy tale movies aren't Disney though. I used to watch a lot of live action movies dubbed on the German tv channels. They always broadcast such good stories...
2004-09-16 [Alfirin Lindlea]: Mulan... that's the bestest one ever
2004-09-16 [MissAJLawson]: nonono its aldian. cause in that movie he says good teenagers now take off your clothes....rea
2004-09-16 [flaed]: Apparently it wasn't him...it was some other person working on the movie who snuck the line in there. :p
2004-09-17 [Spanakopida]: Lilo and Stitch, bitches. That trumps all.
2004-09-17 [3 Dreizig]: Hahaha Hmm.....Disney
2004-09-17 [Morgan le Fay]: I love most of the old ones when they drew 'em out using traditional animation, though some of the Pixar ones are pretty entertaining.
2004-09-17 [3 Dreizig]: Yeah. The stories are sometimes not as original as the older ones, but the animations perks it up.
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: I prefer the old ones myself. With Pixar it just completely loses that 'Disney' feel. And the stories went downhill, imo. Regardless of how Disney tends to butcher the original version, the Disney version is always enjoyable. ^-^
2004-09-17 [deleted, gone]: im in like!!!!!!!!!!
2004-09-17 [Alfirin Lindlea]: Where does it say that in Aladdin?!?! *Grabs tape ready to watch it*
2004-09-17 [Morgan le Fay]: Isn't it right after he says "Do you trust me?" (carpet ride part). It is really soft in the moment of pause between the characters.
2004-09-17 [Alfirin Lindlea]: who says it??? *is quite shocked yet intrigued*
2004-09-17 [CelticMoon]: yes im intrigued lol and NO ONE has mentioned Pocahontas (gorge songs) but i love that and the lion king and fiding nemo and snow white and Anastasia and lill mermaid and the new lill mermaid with her daughter
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: Pirates of the Caribean was also a disney movie and I liked it. Mostly because since that movie I've been compared to both Captain Jack Sparrow(Johnny Depp) and William Turner(Orlando Bloom). And of course I'm flattered. ^_^
2004-09-17 [Ylaraniala Majere]: THAT is a good movie, I agree... very good! Doesn't really seem Disney, though... which is good in my opinion. *glances at Disney fans shiftily* Sparrow isn't what I'd think to be great... Turner was good. ^_^
2004-09-17 [Estantia]: I don't think of hotness that much, though that moment at the end I would love to be in with the person i think i love *melts* hmm...
2004-09-17 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Orlando Bloom? Watch it, girl, he's about ten years older than you!
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: Meh, let 'em fantisise.
2004-09-17 [Ylaraniala Majere]: I did that once too, but hey, it's bad for you if you don't realize that he would never want to be with you. ESPECIALLY that you don't really want to be with someone that much older.. otherwise you just become... a FANGIRL! *growls*
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: Capt sparrow was great, he's sooo funny :)
2004-09-17 [Ylaraniala Majere]: He WAS funny... I admit that, but Turner was better.
2004-09-17 [Morgan le Fay]: I, personally, LOVED Sparrow. Turner was... 'eh'. But in my opinion, Bloom only has three expressions: "I'm sensing something," "I'm confused," and "I'm mildly upset." All of which can look the same at times. I just don't really like his 'acting style' in any of his roles. Don't hurt me! ::hides from rabid fangirls::
2004-09-17 [Alfirin Lindlea]: ^^ Agreed
2004-09-17 [3 Dreizig]: Meh, liked the girl personally. ^^ As for Depp and Bloom, whats their girl secret? ^^
2004-09-17 [Alfirin Lindlea]: Johnny is hottttttt... as for Bloom... well, that's a mystery to me
2004-09-17 [3 Dreizig]: Dunno...maybe girls like cute elves with bows and arrows....othe
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: My theory is that fangirls want clean-shaven men whose hair never needs to be washed and who can, when needed, keep them safe. Oh, and them being immortal and generally cute and SUPPOSEDLY unhumanly beautiful is a bonus too. That's just my theory though. I can't say with certainty, because I've never really liked Legolas to begin with *cue rabid outraged fangirl stampede*
2004-09-17 [3 Dreizig]: hahahahahahaha thats very accurate. But are they faithful? Guys like that can get a swelled head and ego, and might not stay truthful to you. Am I wrong?
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: but i find orlando attractive...b
2004-09-17 [flaed]: You're probably right, but I think that a lot of girls are really swooning over the characters in the movie. After all, I'm sure depp and bloom are plenty different in real life than the characters they portray. Plus, people are so....so polished in movies. lol, it's annoying - they look perfect constantly. How are normal people supposed to live up to that? :p
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: They are. Of course that leaves the question of whether they are the real them in their real life, if that makes sense. And I'd suppose normal people live up to that by being... well... real for one, and available for another. ;)
2004-09-17 [flaed]: lolol. Very true, but having perfect looking people seems to have encited some "normal" people to spend hours upon hours upon hours trying to reach that level. *ug-g-g*
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: indeed. This countries and the medias perception of beauty has caused more than a few serious self-esteem issues in the general public. @.@
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: I think the problem is a bit more global than just America. ;) Personally, the only thing I care about is looking presentable. I don't -want- to spend hours behind a mirror staring at my face so I can look picture perfect. I'd much rather be perfect inside, thank you. ^-^
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: Indeed. Although I take pride in my gorgeous curly locks that does not mean that I do more than shake my head a bit when I get out of the shower. I do not shave often even though I'm not really all that shaggy. I wear what's comfortable, not what's stylish. Why? Simply because I am not trying to impress anyone. When you see me, that's what you get, that's what I am. There is beauty in such truths.
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: of course I still joke around saying things like "I know I'm the embodyment of sexual magnetism." and "I know you think I'm hot." but I laugh about it. No one really thinks I'm seriously that egotistical. But it's good for a laugh. ^_^
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: Oh, I know what you mean, though. ^-^ I can spend up to half an hour on my hair. But that's also about it. I do wear make-up for very special occasions. It's so light, people hardly notice it. I'm not a peacock, after all. If I was meant to be one - I do think that I'd be one ;)
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: hehe, i don't wear makeup all that often...>.<, but i don't really care...
2004-09-17 [flaed]: I entirely agree with all this non-egotisical
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: ya, i don't own any mini skirts..or any skirts for that matter.
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: skirts so short they look like belts make me wonder what the point of wearing anything is. @.@
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: And before the confusion starts. For anyone who might not know allready. I am male. The reference to shaving was directed at my shaggy face, not prickly legs. @.@
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: I like (mini) skirts myself. But then I'm not too comfortable with jeans. They're uncomfortable, imo. Skirts are more free. Except where they don't allow you to be a tomboy and climb trees decently ;) Dresses are a different matter. Hardly ever wear those.
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: I wear jean pants all the time. My legs are so white that if I where stranded at night I would only need to remove my pants to light my way. @.@ Currently I am wearing an old TI Worlds Fair T-shirt with several small holes in it. Thankfully their not in tacky places such as over my nipples. @.@
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: and of course you mustent forget my 3 year old shoes that are plain, black, don't have laces, and cost $20. ^_^ (only pair of shoes I own)
2004-09-17 [flaed]: Ooooo, I need new shoes. Mine are getting destroyed again. Just goes to show what excellent shoes come for $9. lol. :p
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: My friends and I always joke that I look like a ghost. I'm quite pale too. Not as white as my pyjamas though. ;p
2004-09-17 [flaed]: I get abnormally pale in winter - partially because I don't sleep enough. The more sleep deprived I get, the whiter I get. Right now I fairly happy to be sporting a tan! *gasp!* Amusingly enough, I don't look tanned...I just look like a heathly person. :p
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: I actually tan really well, quickly too. But I don't spend much time outdoors and my legs haven't seen the light of day in several years. @.@ I actually make an effort to walk properly and thusly my shoes stand up quite a while! That and the $2 flip-flops I wear around the house cut down on the wear. ^_^
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: lol, i got a pretty good tan over the summer, and i'm naturally tanned anyways :P
2004-09-17 [flaed]: *shakes fist at hiddenfire and dilandau* Arg on you tanning people! I'm white, burnt, or almost invisibly tanned at any given moment. *mutter mutter* Good job on the proper walking - my backpack is far too heavy to incite me to lift my feet. Oddly enough it's the inside of my shoes that are decomposing. Something to do with never untying them and slipping my feet in. ^-^
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: i never untie my shoes..i'm a lazy jerk :)
2004-09-17 [flaed]: hehe, I never untie my running shoes -- they're laced loosely anyhow.
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: same..
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: my shoes don't have laces. ^_^ I'm also thin and have naturally curly hair. :P LMAO
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: no laces, damn you :P....i'm thin too, but not really really thin like is used to be >.<
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: oh, and tall. ^_^ 6'2" and 120 lb.s I hear that most women would kill for my body. I'd assume they'de want more breasts than I have though, @.@. And the kicker: I CAN EAT ALL I WANT AND NEVER GAIN A POUND! LMAO, but for me being male, it's not so fun... but it does annoy the women. ^_^
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: [flaed], if it makes you feel better - I don't tan at all. :/ And I'm part of the thin group as well. Though most people would probably take 'skinny' over 'thin'. :/
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: I prefer women to have a fair amount of meat on their bones. Prefering curves to angles. *shrugs* I would prefer a woman that does not have the same body type as myself. *shrugs* but my standards are not so high. @.@
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: lol, 120 pounds, that's unhealthy :P, eat more food!!!
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: then again my metabolism is a bit crazy too..i'm hungry alot.
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: I eat a fair amount. I am a snacker. I can't put away large amounts of food at once but I will eat all day if given the chance. It doesn't really matter to my body how much I eat. I eat a ton or I barely eat. My weight does not really change all that much. Not to long ago I lost 7 pounds because I was sick... but I got over that. Turns out I have a Hiatle Hernia (part of my stomach is above my diaphram). @.@
2004-09-17 [flaed]: Apparently I'm around the middle of the average weight for my height. lol, I tend to eat what I want, but I like fruits and vegetables, so meh!
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: above your diaphram? wtf..holy crap...
2004-09-17 [flaed]: Ouch, that sounds really painful. I can't imagine what it would be like to have part of the stomach above the diaphram. Ack. If that happened to me, I would be very depressed. I like singing, so messing with my diaphram would be a horrid thing! (not that it's good for anyone...)
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: Same here. I would guess that the only real difference between me and most people is the fact that do not like sweets. I just can't handle all that sugar. @.@ I either get extremely hyper or I get extremely ill. So I tend to avoid foods rich in sugar. @.@
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: well, i can't eat that much sugar either..i just feel sick, but i never get hyper..
2004-09-17 [flaed]: oo, some of my friends can guess when I've eaten chocolate. He he he. I don't eat much of it though, because it's just useless. I like homemade sweets and some candy though. There's nothing better than apple crisp, or brownies, or rhubarb pie, or lemon meringue pie, or peanut butter cookies, or....
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: i adore chocolate XD
2004-09-17 [flaed]: *gasp!* But think of the poor exploited children who had to gather the cocoa beans!
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: I can't eat much of something without ending up disliking the taste of it at of a sudden. :/ If that makes sense, I don't know any examples right now.
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: yes...but i'm addicted.
2004-09-17 [flaed]: Hmmm...I ate oatmeal every morning until I hated it. And I had these really weird granola bars for snack every day for a month or so, until I didn't like them either. *ug* And I still think they're nasty. *bleck*
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: i don't like outmeal..*shud
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: Chocolate releases the same endorphines that are released durring sex. It's good stuff. ^_^ and Fudgecicles must have cocaine in them because they're extremly addictive. @.@
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: It'll pass away in a couple of years, I think. I've hated peanut butter for the same reasons for... *counts* ...about nine years, I think. Now I love it as much as I used to. The only things that I've never grow to hate are rice and sweets, I think. Oh, and chocolate milk. Yummie!
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: ya, rice and sweets..i luv mints too >.<
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: GAK! I abhor that with every fibre of my being. Mint that is. Then again - assuming it makes me throw up, that's not surprising ;p Not fun. A lot of things have a minty taste.
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: .....ahh, how could you hate mints, they're great, i like em' as much as chocolates -_-;
2004-09-17 [flaed]: end..or..phine
2004-09-17 [flaed]: Oooo, you know what's awesome? Those mint-chocolate things! Now those are great!
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: But I just explained that - they make me vomit. They're horrid. Now... licorice is a completely different matter. ^-^ But you need to be careful with that, as some kinds can make a person a bit tipsy. Granted - that isn't the licorice of the sweets. Still, though, not a pleasant experience.
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: i like licorice..
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: Rice, butter, and a little bit of sugar. mmmmmmmmm. ^_^
2004-09-17 [flaed]: Hmmm, yes, I suppose the vomiting could cancel out the enjoyment of the flavor. Now what's this about alchoholic licorice? ^^
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: never heard of alcoholic licorice..
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: Endorphines are "feel-good" chemicals released by the brain. ^_^
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: It isn't alcoholic. It just resembles the effects. If I knew the English word of the ingredient, I'd have given it already. ^-^; That was the problem. But they're SO~ tasty! Not as good as treacle waffers, though.
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: those sound good.
2004-09-17 [flaed]: Oooo, that reminds me of a song! *I've treacle and toffee, I've tea and I've coffee, soft tommy and succulent chops*
2004-09-17 [Ocean Dreaming]: Haven't met a person who hasn't liked them. ^-^
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: Endorphins are any of a group of peptide hormones that bind to opiate receptors and are found mainly in the brain. Endorphins reduce the sensation of pain and affect emotions. In high doeses they can make you feel relaxed, energetic, or just generally good. They are released at different times for different reasons.
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: damn, you're making me hungry..
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: god..i'm like 5"3 and a half inches and i'm like 117 pounds..god..[HiddenFire], you must be one damn skinny guy o.O
2004-09-17 [flaed]: Very interesting; thank you! I should really study more biology sometime. ^.^
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: HiddenFire Photos, Yeah, I'm very skinny. It's not all that fun... if you ignore the fact that I am freakishly flexable, which is at least amusing and at most very useful. ^_^ It at least makes adjusting my own spine relatively easy. All of my joints are very loose. I can acutally do some of the things you see those little contortionist girls do in the circus. ^_^ I can lay on my back and set a cup on my foot. Then I slowly turn over so that i'm on my stomach and the cup is still on my foot. i've done the trick with water in it but it take several tries before I can do it without spilling. @.@ *is indeed a freak*
2004-09-17 [flaed]: Wow, that's crazy
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: I won state in the biology portion of UIL Science for 1A (nearly doubling the second place score) schools and 5th place overall. I know my science. ^_^
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: that's some crazy shit...
2004-09-17 [flaed]: That's awesome! I'm in my first year of science at college...but I'm not sure if I'll stay. (Don't think too hard about the educational system, it's really weird where I live now...weird...
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: I could have gotten like $2000 in scolarships too if they didn't limit the colleges you could attend to be eligable to some of the most expensive and distant places in Texas. I was so pissed off. What good is that? I mean, I might have well have bombed the test to give the second place guy a chance! Because that's money that NO ONE got because they're so... backwards. @.@
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: that sux.
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: especially when the colleges they listed as "aproved" where so expensive that $2000 was a drop in the bucket... probably only paying for 2 classes. @.@ this whole state is backwards. @.@
2004-09-17 [flaed]: That is crummy. The regional science fair I was in shirked me! But that was only a matter of $150. $2000 is much much worse.
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: ya, the universities around here are like sooo bloody expensive o.O
2004-09-17 [flaed]: I don't have to pay much for college, I think most of my tuition it is inflicted on the taxpayers.
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: I'm going to be attending the Art Institute of Phoenix starting next month and my Financial Advisor says that the cost of attending college is going up but the amount of aid the government gives out is not going up. That's why it's costing so much more to go now... the system is horrifically behind. @.@
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: WHAT? i live in canada..and it's still bloody expensive..
2004-09-17 [flaed]: Yipes!
2004-09-17 [HiddenFire]: I should try and see if my 3/32 Native American can get me into a tribe. That way I'll get college for free! ^_^ I'm also planning to attempt getting into Mensa <URL:http:/
2004-09-17 [Dil*]: B.C. for me >.<
2004-09-17 [flaed]: Mensa, eh? You know what always gets me on intelligence tests? Those questions about patterns. Problems I can solve, but I never, well, hardly ever see patterns in anything!
2004-09-18 [flaed]: BC is a really nice province! I visited there twice; the scenery is beautiful ^_^
2004-09-18 [Dil*]: yes...you look at a postcard with a forest on it, that's basically my backyard...
2004-09-18 [flaed]: Awesome. I used to live in New Brunswick and there was a lot of forest there too!
2004-09-18 [Dil*]: everywhere you look could be good enough for a postcard scenery :P
2004-09-18 [flaed]: Yay for Canadian scenery. I don't want it to be winter so soon. :'( *brrrr, winter*
2004-09-18 [Dil*]: ya shit.
2004-09-18 [flaed]: *BRRRRR*
2004-09-19 [~AzureSkyy.-]: Yknow .. If all the Mensa people are so smart ... Why don't they have a better website. o.O;
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Mensa people aren't smart, they are blockheads... I know, have you ever tried to solve their puzzles? There are always different answers you can come up with and normally the LEAST likely AND least plausible is the one they say is correct!
2004-09-19 [unlikelynominee]: I knew a Mensa person. He was a complete asshole in every aspect you could think of. He had a major IQ, but he did NOT know how to use it. ~grumble~
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Yeah, well, they are just people in one way of thinking. People say that I'm smart (and my I.Q. says I am, I don't believe it...), but the first thing they say is that I'm nice, and I think that that counts more.
2004-09-19 [Dil*]: umm..what's mensa?
2004-09-19 [flaed]: But are there really patterns in those puzzles? I don't think it's fair that I can't see them! *pouts*
2004-09-19 [unlikelynominee]: Mensa= Place for people with an I.Q. over a number that's considered really smart. I forget the specifics.
2004-09-19 [Dil*]: oh ya...
2004-09-19 [Estantia]: is mensa american?
2004-09-19 [Ocean Dreaming]: English. Or international, depending on how you want to view it. It was founded in England, but the organization is international now. I'd suggest reading: http://www.men
2004-09-19 [Alfirin Lindlea]: Mensa was created by men, the tests were created by men, and men and women's brains work differently therefore the tests are easier for blokes coz their brains can identify patterns etc easier...
2004-09-19 [deleted, gone]: what is that?
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Nope, that's not true either. Women figure out the same things as men when you have a similar I.Q., unless it is something like "what would you do in this position?" Trust me, my brothers and my father (brothers haven't taken I.Q. test, or one is 150 someodd, I don't remember, and dad is 180-188), THEY couldn't figure it out.
2004-09-19 [Ocean Dreaming]: Well.. they don't have to figure out exactly the same things. Remember that old division of 'exact science=male' and 'languages=fem
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: lol, makes perfect sense ^_^
2004-09-19 [Dil*]: humm, i'm good at science and math and i'm female. And i suck at languages(french)..ugh, >.<
2004-09-19 [Ocean Dreaming]: I did say it wasn't an absolute statement ;) I'm supposed to be good at the bèta side of subjects (so sayeth aforementioned IQ tests), but I can't really see that. I barely made it through those subjects and I'm miraculously not failing math.
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Yeah, I hate math... PROOFS! GAH! But I do want to be a Septlinguist, so... well, for me the female thing works, EXCEPT that guys are also supposed to be better at logic and I love the stuff ;^)
2004-09-19 [Dil*]: well, i'm okay at english ...soooo...may
2004-09-19 [Ocean Dreaming]: I'm not sure about that one. Just that there is a 1:3 ratio of male-female in our philosophy class ;p
2004-09-19 [Dil*]: heh..
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Hehe, well, I'd be part of that if I was in the area... PHILOSOPHY! ^_^ THough I know more guys into it than girls...
2004-09-19 [Dil*]: hmm...i dunno if my school offers that, it'd be interesting though...haha, the amazing things that go on in my head when i daydream >.< ...go read my rant about god ranting room....that crazy thing went off in my head while daydreaming.
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Actually, Dilandau, I like the Mormon god... you see, HE lets all the good people in heaven, no matter if they believe in him or not ;^) Coolness!
2004-09-19 [Dil*]: nice, you can't lose!! >.<
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Well, actually.. all your sins ave to be paid for, you aren't 'forgiven' like the Catholic god... so, well, I guess I'll pay for getting on ET when I'm not supposed to!
2004-09-19 [Alfirin Lindlea]: Say you sinned a gazillion times, like you were a huge mass murderer/rapis
2004-09-19 [Dil*]: umm..pay as in how...not anything horrible, like slashing you for every sin you've made XD
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Not in Mormon beliefs... you pay for everything. And it's proportional to the sin you've done...
2004-09-19 [Ocean Dreaming]: Philosophy classes mean you sit around and be bored trying to understand someone else's theory though. ;) And writing your own views on it etc etc.
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Well, I never get bored in that case unless it isn't explained right. And I LOVE writing my views on stuff!
2004-09-19 [Ocean Dreaming]: Have you had virtue ethics already? That's the exam material for us. Difficult...
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Well, i think about that kind of stuff all the time.. ain't taking a clas yet, phooey.
2004-09-19 [Ocean Dreaming]: About virtue ethics? Or philosophy in general?
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Well, I think about both... *grins* But no class. *pouts*
2004-09-19 [Ocean Dreaming]: Would you mind explaining the former to me, then? It's the first subject that I probably won't babble my way through. Or even believe I understand.
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Hard to explain and my brain is off in Nowhere Land right now... SRY!
2004-09-19 [Ocean Dreaming]: I know it's hard to explain. Ancient Greek philosophies aren't the easier there are as it is, leave alone virtue ethics.
2004-09-19 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Well, at least we know the end product of that bit of philosophy - not testing theories and Geometry.
2004-09-20 [Ocean Dreaming]: Of virtue ethics? I thought that was about morals and ethics rather than how to test theories. o_O Then again - I stopped reading after the first chapter gave me a headache :p
2004-09-20 [Ylaraniala Majere]: No, I meant Greek philosophy as a whole...
2004-09-20 [Ocean Dreaming]: *chuckles* The only problem with that is that there isn't 'one' Greek philosophy. There are many. Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Euripides and Pythagoras to name a few of the more well-known ones.
2004-09-20 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Oh, that's the people who came up with them. The basic idea tends to be the same... TENDS.
2004-09-20 [Ocean Dreaming]: Ideas differ more and more as time goes by. The people named are the best examples of that. Before that the basic ideas were comparable though, because the world was believed to be that way. It's a trait that is not solely of that time, I think.
2004-09-22 [Lithium Lullaby]: hello all
2004-09-22 [Ylaraniala Majere]: Hello! ^_^
2004-09-22 [Lithium Lullaby]: how are you
